In 2020, Austral Monsoon was acquired by ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems Industrial, a global leader in entrance automation and industrial door solutions. This integration has enhanced the company’s capabilities, innovation, and access to global resources.
Founded in 1972 as Monsoon Industries, the company began as a manufacturer of steel and aluminium roller shutters for trucks. Over the years, the product portfolio expanded to include a comprehensive range of shutters and grilles for the commercial and industrial building sectors.
In 1982, operations were relocated to a purpose-built 8,000-square-metre facility in Yennora, Western Sydney. The site has since undergone multiple expansions to support increased production capacity and evolving market demand.
A significant milestone occurred in 1986 with the acquisition of Austral Roller Shutters Pty Ltd, one of Sydney’s earliest roller shutter manufacturers, established in 1923. This acquisition led to the creation of the Austral Monsoon brand, which has become one of the most recognised names in the Australian market.
The company continued to strengthen its market presence throughout the 1990s and 2000s, expanding into Queensland and regional New South Wales, and acquiring National Roller Shutters in 2002.
Today, Austral Monsoon offers one of the most comprehensive portfolios of commercial and industrial door systems in Australia. Our offering includes:
